ABSTRACT In this text, we bring together the notions of cinema, education, and formation (Bildung) to discuss pathways and methodological procedures in educational research with films. By exploring conceptual connections between the curriculum, as conceived and practiced in education, and curation, as developed in the artistic and cinematographic realms, we retrace the journey of a doctoral research experience. Ultimately, we propose the establishment of film programs as a methodological gesture capable of inspiring alternative ways of researching between cinema and education.

RÉSUMÉ Dans ce texte, les notions de cinéma, d'éducation et de formation (Bildung) sont réunies pour, à partir de leurs intersections, discuter des pistes et procédures méthodologiques de la recherche pédagogique avec le cinéma. En investissant dans certaines relations conceptuelles entre le curriculum, tel qu'il est pensé et pratiqué dans l'éducation, et le commissariat, tel qu'il se développe dans le domaine artistique et cinématographique, l'itinéraire d'une expérience de recherche doctorale est récupéré pour, enfin, proposer la constitution de programmes de films comme un geste méthodologique capable d’inspirer d’autres manières de rechercher l’intersection entre cinéma et éducation..

RESUMO Neste texto, aproximam-se as noções de cinema, educação e formação (Bildung) para, a partir de seus entrecruzamentos, discutir caminhos e procedimentos metodológicos na pesquisa educacional com filmes. Apostando em algumas relações conceituais entre o currículo, conforme pensado e praticado na educação, e a curadoria, como desenvolvida no âmbito artístico e cinematográfico, recupera-se o itinerário de uma experiência de pesquisa de doutorado para, por fim, propor a constituição de programas de filmes como gesto metodológico capaz de inspirar outras formas de pesquisar a intersecção entre o cinema e a educação.

ABSTRACT. Leptospirosis is an infectious disease that affects practically all domestic and wild animals, which can become carriers and, as a consequence, will contribute to the spread of the microorganism in nature. The present study aims to detect the occurrence of leptospirosis against by the microscopic serum agglutination test in animals at the Zoo of the Centro Universitário da Amazônia (ZOOUNAMA). 26 adult animals of both sexes and of the following species: 9 Sapajus apella, 2 Cebus kaapori, 3 Ateles marginatus, 10 Ateles paniscus, 1 Chiropetes satanas, 1 Allouata belzebul. Of the animals studied, 3 (11.5%) were reagents to be taken against Leptospira spp. The serovars found in the different species were: Icterohaemorragiae, Balum, Hardjo and Grippothyphosa. SAM proved to be efficient to detect against leptospira in non-human primates. Icterohaemorragiae type serum occurred with research results showing that it is also important in leptospirosis in non-human primates.

Introdução: Com o envelhecimento, o sistema sensorial sofre um acúmulo de processos degenerativos, infecciosos e/ou traumáticas que podem dificultar a manutenção do equilíbrio corporal. Objetivo: Avaliar a influência das informações sensoriais no equilíbrio corporal estático de idosos vestibulopatas. Método: Estudo transversal, cuja amostra foi constituída por idosos vestibulopatas. Empregaram-se o Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance (CTSIB) e a posturografia integrada à realidade virtual (Balance Rehabilitation Unit.). Os parâmetros avaliados à posturografia foram: área do centro de pressão (COP) e velocidade de oscilação (VOC). Resultados: Foram avaliados 123 idosos, com média etária de 73,11 anos. O pior desempenho ocorreu na condição cúpula visual-superfície instável (SI) do CTSIB. As diferenças entre as condições foram: superfície firme (SF)-olhos abertos (OA)/SF-olhos fechados (OF) e SI-OA/SI-OF (p < 0,001); SI-OF/SI-cúpula visual. Observou-se diferença da área do COP e da VOC entre as condições: SF-OA/SF-OF; SF-estímulo sacádico/SF-estímulo optocinético vertical; SF-estímulos optocinéticos/SF-interação visuo-vestibular (IVV); SF-IVV/SI, com pior desempenho nas condições SF-OF, SF-estímulo optocinético vertical, SF-IVV e SI-OF. Observou-se diferençado COP entre as condições SF-OF/SF-estímulo sacádico, com pior desempenho na condição SF-OF, e da VOC entre as condições SF-estímulo sacádico e SF-estímulo optocinético horizontal (p < 0,001). Conclusão: O equilíbrio corporal estático de idosos vestibulopatas é pior à medida que as condições sensoriais são mais desafiadoras, ou seja, em SI e SE, estímulos visuais como os optocinéticos e interação visuovestibular e OF.

Introduction: With aging, the sensory systems suffer an accumulation of degenerative, infectious and/or traumatic processes that may hinder the body balance maintenance. Objective: To assess the influence of sensory information on static body balance of elderly individuals with vestibular disorders. Methods: Cross-sectional study of elderly individuals with vestibular disorders. The Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance and posturography integrated with virtual reality (Balance Rehabilitation UnitTM) were used. Posturography parameters analyzed included center of pressure and velocity of body sway. Results: 123 individuals with mean age of 73.11 were assessed. Worst performance was observed in the Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance condition of visual dome-unstable surface. Differences between conditions were: firm surface-open eyes/firm surface-closed eyes, unstable surface-open eyes/unstable surface-closed eyes (p < 0.001), and unstable surface-closed eyes/unstable surface-visual dome. Considering center of pressure and velocity of body sway, significant differences were observed between the following conditions: firm surface-open eyes/firm surface-closed eyes: firm surface-saccadic stimulus/firm surfacevertical optokinetic stimulus; firm surface-optokinetic stimuli/firm surface-visual-vestibular interaction; and firm surface-visual-vestibular interaction/unstable surface. Worse performances were observed in conditions firm surface-closed eyes, firm surface-vertical optokinetic stimulus, F-visual-vestibular interaction, and unstable surface-closed eyes. There was a difference in the center of pressure between firm surface-closed eyes/firm surface-saccadic stimulus, with a worse performance in the condition of firm surface-closed eyes, and of velocity of body sway, between firm surface-saccadic stimulus/firm surface-horizontal optokinetic stimulus (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Static body balance in elderly individuals with vestibular disorders is worse when the sensory conditions are more challenging, i.e. stable and unstable surfaces, visual stimuli, such as optokinetic and visual-vestibular interaction, and with the eyes closed.

Introduction  Any impairment in the hearing ability of a child with cleft lip and palate may cause difficulties in receptive and expressive language. Purpose  Check the association between velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD), compensatory articulation (CA), and peripheral hearing loss in children with cleft palate surgery. Methods  Retrospective study with 60 children (group 1: presence of VPD and CA; group 2: absence of VPD, presence of CA; group 3: presence of VDP, absence of CA; group 4: absence of VPD and CA), age 4 to 5 years old, with cleft palate surgery, through the analysis of the hearing, VP, and speech evaluations. Results  Group 4 presented 80% normal hearing; group 1 had 60% hearing loss. The conductive hearing loss type was the most frequent. The glottal stop was the most frequent in group 1 and the middorsum palatal plosive in group 2. There was no significant association (p = 0.05) between hearing loss and the presence of compensatory articulations (groups 2 and 4), nor between hearing loss and the presence of VPD (groups 3 and 4; p = 0.12). Statistical significance (p = 0.025) was found when the group with VPD was associated with the group with CA, that is, group 1 with the control group (group 4). Conclusion  Significant association between peripheral hearing loss, compensatory articulations, and VPD was verified for the children in group 1, which not only presented compensatory articulations but also VPD.

INTRODUCTION: At the initial consultation, the speech-language pathologist and audiologist may consider possible diagnostic hypotheses based on the child's history and the parents' complaint. AIM:To investigate the association of hearing complaints with the findings obtained in the conventional audiologic assessment in children with cleft lip and palate. Retrospective study. METHODS: We analyzed medical charts of 1000 patients with cleft lip and palate who underwent surgical repair between 1988 and 1995 at a mean age of 6 years 8 months. We excluded charts with records of inconsistent audiological responses and charts with missing data for any of the audiologic evaluations considered. Thus, the sample consisted of 393 records. RESULTS: Two hundred thirty-nine patients presented hearing loss in one or both ears, but only 3.8% reported hearing complaints. The most frequent were otorrhea followed by otalgia. There was no statistical significance between the complaint and gender (p = 0.26) nor between the complaint and hearing loss (p = 0.83). CONCLUSION: This study showed no association between the hearing complaint and the conventional audiologic assessment.

INTRODUÇÃO: O uso de uma única frequência na timpanometria não é sensível na detecção de todos os casos de alteração na orelha média, dificultando o diagnóstico preciso. OBJETIVO: Caracterização das medidas de imitância acústica de lactentes utilizando três tipos de sonda. Estudo prospectivo. MÉTODO: Foram avaliados 54 lactentes, com idade entre zero e três meses. Os critérios de inclusão foram ausência de infecções de vias aéreas, presença de emissões otoacústicas evocadas transientes, ausência de indicadores de risco para perda auditiva. Foi realizada entrevista audiológica, inspeção visual do meato acústico externo e medidas de imitância acústica nas frequências de 226Hz, 678Hz e 1000Hz. Foram coletados os registros timpanométricos de efeito de oclusão, curva e pressão de pico timpanométrico, volume equivalente do meato acústico externo e pico compensado da admitância acústica estática. RESULTADOS: Os resultados indicaram presença de efeito de oclusão (2,88% em 226Hz, 4,81% em 678Hz e 3,85% em 1000Hz); predomínio de curva em pico único (65,35% em 226Hz, 81,82% em 678Hz e 77,00% em 1000Hz); pressão de pico variando de -150 a 180daPa; aumento do volume equivalente do meato acústico externo com aumento da frequência da sonda (0,64ml em 226Hz, 1,63mmho em 678Hz e 2,59mmho em 1000Hz); aumento do pico compensado da admitância acústica estática (0,51ml em 226Hz, 0,55mmho em 678Hz e 1,20mmho em 1000Hz). Foram classificados como normais 93,06% dos timpanogramas com 226Hz, 80,81% em 678Hz e 82,00% em 1000Hz. CONCLUSÃO: Por meio destas avaliações e resultados foi possível caracterizar as medidas de imitância acústica dos lactentes.

INTRODUCTION: The use of conventional tympanometry is not sufficiently sensitive to detect all cases of middle ear changes, and this hinders accurate diagnosis. OBJECTIVE: To characterize acoustic immittance measures of infants from 0 to 3 months of age using multifrequency tympanometry in a prospective study. METHOD: 54 infants from 0 to 3 months of age were evaluated. The inclusion criteria included absence of respiratory infections during the evaluation, presence of transient evoked otoacoustic emissions, and absence of risk indicators for hearing loss. The subjects were evaluated by an audiologic interview, a visual inspection of the ear canal, and measures of acoustic immittance at the frequencies of 226 Hz, 678 Hz, and 1,000 Hz. Tympanometric records of the occlusion effect, tympanometric curve type, tympanometric peak pressure, equivalent ear canal volume, and peak compensated static acoustic admittance were collected. RESULTS: The results indicated the presence of an occlusion effect (2.88% at 226 Hz, 4.81% at 678 Hz and 3.85% at 1,000 Hz), predominance of a tympanometric curve with a single peak (65.35% at 226 Hz, 81.82% at 678 Hz, and 77.00% at 1,000 Hz), and tympanometric peak pressure ranging from -155 to 180 daPa. Further, the equivalent ear canal volume increased with the frequency of the probe (0.64 mL at 226 Hz, 1.63 mho at 678 Hz, and 2.59 mmho at 1,000 Hz) and the peak compensated static acoustic admittance values increased with an increase in frequency (0.51 mL at 226 Hz, 0.55 mmho at 678 Hz and 1.20 mmho at 1,000 Hz). 93.06% of the tympanograms were classified as normal at 226 Hz, 81.82% at 678 Hz, and 77.00 % at 1,000 Hz, respectively. CONCLUSION: Taken together, these results demonstrated that utilizing these evaluations made it possible to characterize the acoustic immittance measures of infants.

OBJETIVO: Sistematizar os resultados de ensaios clínicos sobre reabilitação vestibular (RV) em indivíduos de meia-idade e idosos com distúrbios vestibulares. MÉTODOS: A busca de publicações sobre a RV em indivíduos com distúrbios vestibulares foi realizada nas bases de dados LILACS, EMBASE, MEDLINE, SciELO, Cochrane, ISI Web of Knowledge e bibliotecas virtuais de teses e dissertações. Foram selecionados ensaios clínicos aleatórios e controlados dos últimos 10 anos em língua inglesa, portuguesa e espanhola. A qualidade metodológica dos estudos foi avaliada pela escala PEDro. A análise dos resultados dos estudos foi feita por meio de revisão crítica dos conteúdos. RESULTADOS: Nove estudos foram revisados na íntegra, sendo a faixa etária dos participantes acima de 40 anos (n=4) e composta exclusivamente por idosos (n=5). Os achados de disfunção vestibular foram diversificados, sendo os mais comuns queixa de desequilíbrio corporal ou instabilidade postural (n=3) e queixa de vertigem ou tontura (n=3). A Escala Visual Analógica (EVA) foi o instrumento mais utilizado para avaliar a percepção subjetiva da sintomatologia da disfunção vestibular (n=4). A escala PEDro revelou que quatro dos artigos apresentaram delineamento de boa qualidade para a condução do estudo experimental. A proposta de intervenção mais utilizada foi o protocolo de Cawthorne & Cooksey (n=4). Os estudos que compararam a RV com outro tipo de intervenção não apresentaram, na maioria dos desfechos analisados, diferença entre os grupos após a terapia. CONCLUSÃO: Estudos aleatorizados controlados disponibilizaram evidências de efeitos positivos da RV em idosos e adultos de meia-idade com distúrbios vestibulares.

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the results of clinical trials on vestibular rehabilitation (VR) in middle-aged and elderly people with vestibular disorders. METHODS: A search for relevant trials was performed in the databases LILACS, EMBASE, MEDLINE, SciELO, Cochrane, ISI Web of Knowledge and virtual libraries of theses and dissertations. Randomized controlled trials published in the last 10 years and written in English, Portuguese or Spanish were included. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed by the PEDro scale. Results from the included studies were analyzed through a critical review of content. RESULTS: Nine studies were included in the review. Four studies reported on participants aged over 40 years (middle-aged and elderly) and five studies consisted exclusively of elderly subjects (over 60 years). Findings of vestibular dysfunction were diverse and the most common complaints were body imbalance or postural instability (3 studies), and vertigo or dizziness (3 studies). The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was the most commonly used instrument to assess subjective perception of symptoms of vestibular dysfunction (4 studies). According to the PEDro scale, four studies were considered to be of good quality. The most common experimental intervention was the Cawthorne & Cooksey protocol (4 studies). For most outcome measures, the studies comparing VR with another type of intervention showed no differences between the groups after the therapy. CONCLUSIONS: The studies included in this review provide evidence for the positive effects of VR in elderly and middle-aged adults with vestibular disturbances.

OBJETIVO: Identificar os fatores relacionados aos sintomas depressivos de idosos com disfunção vestibular crônica. MÉTODO: Estudo transversal, em que 120 idosos com disfunção vestibular crônica submeteram-se ao questionário Geriatric Depression Scale. Realizou-se análise de regressão linear multivariada (p<0,05 e IC de 95%). RESULTADOS: Os pacientes apresentaram média de 12,86 ± 6,39 pontos no GDS, sendo que 67 idosos (55,8%) pontuaram acima da nota de corte 11. O modelo preditivo para piora dos sintomas depressivos foi composto por gênero feminino, distúrbios de memória e da concentração, insônia, hipoacusia, visão péssima, não utilização de dispositivo de auxílio à marcha e maior impacto da tontura no aspecto emocional. CONCLUSÃO: O maior número de sintomas depressivos de idosos vestibulopatas crônicos está relacionado à presença de distúrbios de memória e da concentração, insônia, hipoacusia, visão péssima, maior impacto da tontura no aspecto emocional, gênero feminino e não utilização de dispositivo de auxílio à marcha.

OBJECTIVE: To identify factors relating to depressive symptoms among elderly people with chronic vestibular dysfunction. METHOD: This was a cross-sectional study in which 120 elderly people with chronic vestibular dysfunction answered the Geriatric Depression Scale questionnaire. Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed (p<0.05 and 95% CI). RESULTS: The patients presented a mean score of 12.86 ± 6.39 points on the Geriatric Depression Scale, and 67 of them (55.8%) scored above the cutoff of 11 points. The predictive model for worsening of depressive symptoms was composed of female gender, memory and concentration disorders, insomnia, hearing disorders, poor sight, nonuse of walking aids and greater emotional impact of dizziness. CONCLUSION: Greater numbers of depressive symptoms among elderly people with chronic vestibular disease were related to the presence of memory and concentration disorders, insomnia, hearing disorders, very poor sight, greater emotional impact of dizziness, female gender and nonuse of walking aids.
